It's just sooo annoying when you have the phone locked or in another app and bang, a pop up appears. I disabled notifications in the settings but i believe it's for specific apps.

Is there a way? running iOS 4.1.

I believe it's you can't disable it. It's a common complaint while gaming. There are rumors that 4.2 will allow some customization of the notification system. Perhaps that will be included.

Eta for 4.2 is sometime in November. Should include some impressive features like the ability to print documents.

Jailbreak and look for an app in Cydia called popup blocker. It works.

You know what heavy fluid? -- With every customer that shows up in any of my stores (we own mobile phone stores here in Canada and we sell tons of iphones) with an iphone "problem", 95% of the time, we"ll restore the phone and all is well.
This has left a sort of anti jailbreaking taste in my mouth so i've avoided doing it.

Yep. Jailbreak and you can find the app in Cydia. 94% of the people that bring those iPhones in are probably idiots and don't know any better.
