I would like to convert a PDF file to ePub format for reading it on an iPad 2.
Is there an online/desktop tool that will allow me to do that?

Do you have a Gmail account? You can save pdfs or pretty much anything to Google Docs and read them in Good Reader without having to convert.
Also, you may try this tutorial about how to convert PDF to ePub for iPad. Results depend entirely on the PDFs that you want to convert.
Hope it can do you a favor.

If you want to convert to ePub try installing Stanza desktop and open the PDF file there then save the ePub generated. Another good converter, also excellent ebook organizer is Calibre, this software can convert any ebook format.

Hey I would try to avoid using just the tool's alone if u know any programing u could do the extra programing required your self. If not then try a Manuel converter that way the files can matinee the correct formatting and wont look like gibberish.

Try Calibre, it's like iTunes for books. Has full conversion abilities and library management. I use it for my Kindle, works really well.
