The first un-tethered jailbreak for the 4.2.1 iOS for windows users is almost here.
The release should be very soon (within days) so now you only gotta do the jailbreaking once and it stays that way.
But it's not just the apps, it's the customization that a JB offers too. Personally I dont do the installous gig, but definitely like all the themes.
I'm not against jail breaking. Far from. It's MY phone. I should be free to do whatever I want to it.
IMO, Apples vision of the user experience for their devices is written in pencil, not etched in stone.
I don't feel right right ripping off some guy who codes apps in his basement, so I pay for what I download.
It's nice to have Cydia as an option, shagged I use it or not.
Hahah. 'shagged' should have been the word 'whether'.
Damn you auto correct! Lol. Makes me sound like Austin Powers.
I had my phone jailbroken for a couple of days (tethered) with redsn0w, and although I did download a bunch of stuff from cydia , the only thing I wanted is to customize the lock screen and the home screen really. Regular apps from itunes is more than enough, even just the free apps offer tremendous options.
I want a freakin jailbreak for 4.2.1 for my freakin obsolete itouch 2G MC-model - you'd think they could at least be so kind to help us with the last update apple is giving us
Here's a mirror of version 2 if anyone needs it: link.
You are a life saver. the main greenpoison site is down. Probably overflooded by all the people wanting to jailbreak their phone.
edit. Damn...for Macs... I do have a mac, but it won't even notice my phone, due to the operating system is old on it as well as the laptop itself (powerbook G4)
I have a question. I'm still running the original 4.0 on my iPhone 4, but it's jailbroken. Now when the untethered Windows jailbreak for 4.2.1 is released, I want to upgrade and jailbreak. What will be the procedure for me? Will I have to restore my iPhone 4 and then upgrade to 4.2.1, or can I just upgrade my jailbroken 4.0 right up to 4.2.1?
Im pretty sure if you upgrade iOS, you will lose your JB and have to JB again.
Thanks for the reply. I was sure I would lose my JB after upgrading my OS. I was wondering if I could upgrade straight to 4.2.1 from 4.0, or if I had to apply the earlier upgrades first.

Your procedure would be..
1. Backup using iTunes.
2. Restore it to iOS 4.2.1
3. Run GP and jailbreak. **Note. You might see errors during jailbreaking. Just repeat the step.
4. Run loader to download cydia. **Note. The downloading will be VERY ULTIMATELY slow, due to the overload of servers. You can choose to use redsnow to install cydia if you want. Google for which RC to use. RC6 if I'm not wrong.
5. Restore from backup.
There you go.
Optional steps. Backup your cydia apps. Google aptbackup or pkgbackup.
