No. I use it for my e-mail, contact sync, and calendar sync and all work flawlessly. I have the e-mail setup through IMAP and the contact/calendar sync running through Exchange.
Thanks for the reply, ugahairydawgs. Why don't you have it all going through the Exchange setup?
Because you can't delete message off the server through Exchange. Everything just gets archived when you delete it on the device.
Ah, I see. But, isn't there a 'move to folder' option? Albeit, that can becoming annoying in time...
Yeah.....but even if you do that it still archives it. Seems like it is just something Apple and Google have yet to work out together. Everything else works flawlessly through Exchange though (messages get to you just as fast as they do on a Blackberry) and contact sync will shoot across contact photos as well.....which was nice coming from a Blackberry, which does not do the same through either Google Sync or BIS.
I have Google Apps through Exchange and all works well- push, contact sync, calendar sync.
Actually, the archiving is a Google thing. There's nothing anyone can do about it. I've read Google's theory is people want to keep all of their mail and just not see it if they "delete it," which I personally dont understand or agree with. If I hit delete I dont need to see it again or else Id put it into a folder or manually archive it.
But anyways, their theory is everything that you delete is still archived so that's how mail is treated. It really has nothing to do with Apple specifically it's just how gmail works.
I don't find it a huge deal, just get on a computer once a week or so and go to your gmail in the "All Mail" tab and delete all the old stuff.
I too use Google apps via exchange and have no issues what so ever. Love having true sync and push with my Google contacts and email. As for the archiving issue, stuaw11 said it is just a Google thing. They want to keep all of our information so that they can convert us all in clones in the Google Army. LOL.
My iphone 4 has a wierd mic problem where I...people, but they cant hear me. Voice apps using the mic work, so I want to...in to apple to see whats wrong. But my iphone is jailbroken, and I'm ...explorer for your iphone. search for it on google code), and it made a backup of all the.
You can permanently delete messages in Google Apps/Gmail. You go into the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings. In there, set "Auto-Expunge" to "Do not automatically expunge messages." Then tick the radio box that says, "Immediately delete the message forever."
