I dont have any problems with iMessages...:confused:
Typical story have no idea what iMessage is or does it's an automatic feature built into iOS 5 and you don't have to select it to work, it just does.

That's debatable.
iMessage recieves message in two ways, either by phone number or by email address. Any iMessages sent to my email address appear on both my iPhone and my iPad. However, iMessages addressed to my phone number only appear on my phone and are not synced to my iPad, even though apple claims its seamless and should sync across devices either way....
So the answer is yes and no.
Apple need to fix this so it works as advertised.
iMessage works great for me.

I have iMessage on several devices and have had no problems like the article states. As usual it's a user not knowing wtf they are doing and then blogging about it.
I mean the Author calls it imessages......laughable...
Doing a quick look in Google shows otherwise. Looks like lots of people having various iMessage issues. But if you're not seeing them, they must be made up? :confused:
Then I must not know what I'm doing either, or could it be that iMessage just doesn't work as advertised? As I said, unless an iMessage is addressed to my email it won't appear on my iPad. It supposed to work either way, phone number or email.

No it does work via an email address. The issue I have is with the article saying it splits your contact in two which it doesn't.
Here is an example:
Contact A has an iPhone and an iPad. You have that contact in your address book with a mobile number and en email. Lets say you send that person an iMessage via the phone number, they get the message on their phone as normal. So now lets send them an iMessage via their email they will get the message on BOTH devices as long as they have setup iMessage correctly. Under the settings>messages>iMessage
Should have your apple id and it should say can be reached for messages at:
Phone:
Email:
Add Another email:
Then your caller ID can be set as your phone number or email.

I'm sure there are issues. It's a new service.
Sending a message to my email or number goes directly to my phone and works as advertised. I don't have an iPad so I wouldn't be able to check the other issues. No split contacts.
Is your iPad WiFi only?
Yes. Wifi only. Messages addressed to my email appear on both devices. The iPad doesn't have an option to receive at a phone number naturally, but apple say that any message sent to my phone (or any device associated to my apple id) should also sync to my iPad. Just doesn't seem to work if the message is addressed to a phone number.

Xandermac I think I have this figured out. My iPad is WiFi only also and the only option to receive at is an email which is the same as my Apple ID. So if I understand the concept correctly it works like this. If you send me an iMessage via my email (apple ID) I will get it on my both my iPhone and iPad if you send it via my cell I will get it on my phone only.
Right. That's how it works for me, but apple seem to think that messages sent to my phone number should also appear on my iPad bc both devices are associated to the same apple id. Oh well. Hopefully they can tweak the system.

i believe that the email address you use for iMessage must be the same as what they have set up for their AppleID...
