    Hello again! My question for today is the following: When you jailbreak with the new blackra1n, do you need to restore to a custom IPSW? The reason I ask this (and I might have already told you this but I don't remember) is because my hard drive on my laptop failed back at the beginning of the year, so all my data is on my iPhone now and I don't want to lose it for good. I plan to SSH into the phone and retrieve the data once I am jailbroken, but I need this question answered before I can do that. Thank you for all the help you guys give me!

    you would actually need blackra1n to jb a 3.1.2 and if you are already at 3.1.2 like it looks like in your avatar you are set to go. there is no custom ipsw for blackra1n it simply patches the fw already on your phone

    The JB was pretty straightforward. I updated to 3.1.2 and within 45 secs it was jailbroken. No restore needed.

    mine took like 25 seconds and it was done, i also like that you can delete the icon, as oppised to freeze that came with purplera1n

    I am almost positive that mine took even less time than the both of you lol

    Use SBsettings or BossPrefs to hide the icon.

    If you're talking about the actual jailbreak process, it's blackra1n for Windows.

    the thing is when you fully turn the power off after using blackra1n it tells you you need to do a restore...dont restore..re-jailbreak with blackrain and it will go back to normal
