I don't understand the need for probably 50% of the apps people use. "My bank has no app for BB10"... and? does it not have a website? A website that allows you to do anything? With more capabilities than an app? Some apps sure like company specific apps or productivity apps and fitness apps or games. But so many things can be done just by using the browser. My bank has an app for BB10 but it socks. Less detail and functionality than the Web. So why use it? Convenience? Hardly convenient in my eyes if it doesn't have what I need. I'll take the extra 10 seconds to type in the address or go through my bookmarks to find it.

Yeah. Benefit is simply that it has the proper LTE bands unlike most phones of its kind.

It is more than that. Apple has the best customer service out there. When you pay that premium price you are getting that service, the largest app, music and movies ecosystem, and a device that has hardware and software made for each other. And it works very easily with little to no tinkering required. I was amazed when I had to take my son's iPhone in because the battery wasn't charging properly about a month after buying it and T-Mobile told me to go to the Apple store because they could replace it that day and I would have to wait a few days for a refurbished from them. Sure enough was in and out in about 15 minutes with a new iPhone. One of my kids was asking about apps at least once a week on the Z10, switched him to iPhone and haven't had any issues.

BlackBerry customer service and customer treatment is horrible in comparison. Jobs was a marketing genius, but he also wasn't out there making promise after promise like BlackBerry and not delivering. This takes it toll on your customer loyalty and credibility, and BlackBerry has little of either at this point because of poor management and treatment of the customers.

That might be your experience. Others have dealt with defective motherboard capacitors, defective screens, messed up Apple ID's, etc. When they merged some email/apple ID database a few years ago, they broke my apple ID and I had to start a new one (no way to recover it). Their forums were filled with tens of thousands of people with same issue, and it was $29 to call Apple and have them fix it, which wasn't always 100%. Sure, if you pay for Apple Care, you are probably treated like royalty. But not if you expect reasonable service and life from their high priced products.

Oh, and out of warranty repairs? $1100 for a new logic board for 7 defective caps. GTFO.

How many class action lawsuits have there or currently against Apple?

Anyways, to get back on topic, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY doubt that there will be 2 years of support for this phone at the current price. They'll make money for the first few months, and then the products sales will slide as new phones/competition comes. And there isn't enough margin to pay for all their licenses, equipment, developers, etc. Unless, One Plus one is like a 20 year old Chinese factory that has already paid off its equipment investments. But certainly not if they are operating like a start up.

Sorry... but the iPhone and iPad aren't toy as apparently many here have lead you to believe. Doctors us iPads all them time, because they have the TOOLS they need. Many Industries are using iPads because the form factor is just right for being able to move around a plant and go from the design rooms to the production floors.

A friend of mine has a Band... his iPhone and iPad are used extensively in mixing and playing his music.

Now it does help that iOS is simple (which is what I always hear from professionals "keep it simple") and easy for most anyone to pick up and use.... there is a button, you push the button. They pick up my Z10 and they start looking for a button to press until they find one.... they don't just start swiping.
The tool is the app, not the hardware. There is nothing in the ipad that couldn't be done in another tablet. The Doctor could easily use a Samsung tablet if the app existed for it. It's not like the ipad has the x-ray imager built into the hardware.

That's the crux of the issue right there - the app has to be there...

Specialist developers are gravitating to ios for these sorts of specialist applications for a number of reasons; one would wager return on investment must be high on the list!

It's all well and good saying anything the iPad can do another tablet can do - it is also disingenuous.

That is simply not true because, for whatever reason; a whole load of the specialist apps, especially medical applications and research, is being conducted and produced on the ios devices.

The only way that will change is if the developers decide another system meets their needs better.

    Yes.

I agree on the support part, however if you would have observed the other players in this segment like micromax, they have rolled out good upgradable better phones in every one year for the previous model.

So one plus surely will release another upgrade with more improved camera and spec if they manage to sell some of this model

The reason for so many Apple devices sold is that there are just too many sheeps in this world. I have no idea why a person with a normal functioning brain would over pay for that piece of sh*t.
Its because you're the smartest person alive.

It's "Keeping up with the Jones". Period. It's a status symbol.

Lots of us know people who blindly buy Apple products for appearances. My brother in law handed his perfectly working iPhone 5 to his 2 year old to play (destroy) with after he got the latest.

He buys the largest ipod devices for his vehicles, but never goes above 1-2 GB of music. When I was asking him what he likes and dislikes, he liked things that were common to pretty much all platforms, and hated things that were pretty much Apple only issues/limitations. He had ZERO knowledge of any other phone or the capabilities of any phones, he just knew to go out and buy the latest Apple product when it came out.

He is not the only person I know who is like this. I know no one who is like this for Android or BlackBerry. This is 100% due to the marketing change when Jobs came back. It can ALL be attributed to the marketing change from Jobs return. You remember all those commercials, right? They were really well produced, and they totally made you want it, not for the capabilities, but for the status.

All day long, there are products and industries where the better product loses to the lesser product for any number of reasons. Just because it sells well, doesn't make it the best. Otherwise, crap like boy bands and Lady Gaga would be the best music in the world, right?

Personally, I feel that BlackBerry's come back would be more about having hip hop artists waving around their BlackBerry's to show its back "in" than any "killer app", and then people will jump on that band wagon. But they went with Alicia Keys instead... *epic fail*
A lot of people think blackberry 10 is garbage though. Apple may not be "the best", but they are what most people like enough to spend their money on. Not everyone cares enough to invest tons of time and energy into researching this stuff. They just want to live their lives and take their pictures and post them to shared photostreams and what not. Yes. Other products do those things. Some of them even do them better. But no one does as many things, as painlessly, as iOS.
