Opportunity knocks!
theres nothing there....
Sent from my Hybrid BryceBerry 9900
Whilst I agree in principal with the Chinese officials, it's a case of pot calling the kettle's bottom black, they have been putting malware on Android devices a long time now and are the ranked high on the index to invasors of privacy. Apple is going to have a very hard time keeping their policy running there with respect to the issue. BlackBerry has an opportunity there ,as you the user, can control the permissions on your device provided they aren't Android ports or apps.

Kind of like the Pot calling the Kettle black isn't it?

I agree that this is a great opportunity for BlackBerry.
Enemy of my enemy, eh?
You really think BBRY will be allowed into China with its full security intact? They will have to go the same route as they did in India.
That's correct.

If a storm is brewing, people run for cover, supplies etc., perceived or real. Yet these security/spying issues are repeated daily and knowone really cares, except the proactive Germans it seems.

I agree--the average joe or jane consumer probably isn't paying attention. But I think that corporations and governments are tracking this and this will bode well for BES10 adoption, more so than BB10 device sales.
China will probably use android phones, less likely blackberry.

Don't forget Mr. Chen already stated that Chinese market was not that simple and he was talking about security that is a core value for Blackberry.
I think China doesn't like Apple for the way Americans can see what you're doing (and are suspected to have a total access to your iphone), but for Blackberry i believe it's the other way around: Blackberry would be to much privacy for Chinese users and government couldn't easily pry on their citizens...
If Blackberry wants to be appreciated like a brand that assures privacy a Chinese government approving massively BB10 devices could be a very bad buzz imho, that would mean they passed a deal with them to be able to access every Blackberry device...
I don't take what is said by the Chinese media too seriously. These guys are extremely xenophobic and it is common knowledge.
When not complaining about an iPhone features consumers can turn off, they complain about stuff like Starbucks discriminating against China by charging high prices for coffee. Other crackpot stuff they publish is like a story about how the United States genetically engineered SARS to contain the Chinese ascendency. It turned out many details in the story were flat out incorrect.
What's particularly crazy about these current accusations is that the iPhone is being called a "national security concern". Aside from the fact that you can turn off the tracking feature, officials don't even have to use iPhone! "Privacy concern"? Maybe. But calling a singular device that can be readily disposed of a "national security concern" is choke full of crazies.
If iPhones could endanger national security, the US government would be all over them like it is Huawei the construction of telephone networks because iPhones are manufactured where? That's right: China!
Is this really news? It should be common knowledge that if you use iPhone you will have no security or privacy and susceptible to getting hacked open by almost anyone with basic hacking skills. If that wasn't bad enough the iphone is an old and outdated OS with a laughable tiny four inch screen. No that is no joke for those who don't know. The Germans learned a valuable lesson with iphone and NSA and now use BlackBerry.

The Chinese government is only interested in protecting Chinese business. If you think they'll let anyone else in there without a fight you're just being silly. This could very well be an announcement about any company that's not Chinese. Replace it with whatever name you want, it doesn't matter.
The scenario would be the same. It's not even about 'Apple' being insecure or 'Android' being insecure. That's just smoke and mirrors. It's the Chinese government protecting their own countries assets. Nothing more, nothing less. Apple just happened to be the target this time around, Microsoft not too long ago with Windows 8 and soon it will be some other company they're warning against.
The Chinese firewall isn't limited to just the internet, they take that firewall into the real world and will target whatever they feel could hurt their own businesses in any possible way, they'll straight up ban anything without a second thought.
I'm not disagreeing with the latter part of your statement Bla1ze, having worked in that field for many years. I am fully aware of Politics or better said Politricks, I have said they will have issues with anyone , Pot calling the kettle's bottom black is just one term I used, as they do the same using Android devices manufactured there to spy on their own, they just don't want anyone else to do it to them . not debating platforms. I am stating that it's not about" business "as you say it's about espionage. They know what they do and are aware of what the west does as well. I wish I could go into details about corporate espionage that goes on with China, Korea and other countries but I can't , suffice it to say that the main reason behind this move is that the adage goes" Do as I say ,don't do as I do." BlackBerry will not be easily accepted and like India the authorities will want a sort of similar arrangement, the difference is BlackBerry will allow only that Government the access, Apple will let the NSA the access to their information collected there. The Chinese just don't want any external spying going on. What's silly is that we here seem not to be interested in Privacy and would allow our Private communication and data be used by the likes of Google and some degree Apple.
