I went to check out the iphone plan options today for a single new line, and the cheapest plan is $90. I was shocked to say the least, especially paying 45 a month for my blackberry with unlimited everything.

On a family plan the iphone is MUCH more reasonable, but how can this be? Are you guys really paying 90+ a month for your iphones? Am i missing something?

    well from what i remember...

    39.99 for 450 min
    59.99 for 900 min
    69.99 unlimited voice
15.00 for 1500 text or 20.00 for unlimited
    30.00 data plan

not including your state taxes and F U fees

    ...yeah at&t is expensive

To the OP, yes that sounds about right. We pay 89.00 for 1400mins with rollover then we have another line at 10.00 iPhone plans at 30.00 and unlimited txt for both phones for 30.00. Expensive yes but we are really happy with ATT and the service that we get here in Vegas, the fact that we have almost 6000 rollover mins at the moment helps as well.

Youre not going to get a phone on any major carrier with minutes and unlimited everything for anything close to $45, even Sprint which is pretty cheap.

Im paying $10 for my line, and $30 for my data plan, plus some taxes and random small things and my bill came to $47.90 for my tour

Interesting. The iphone seems to be much more reasonable when its on a family plan

Any phone seems more reasonable on a family plan because it only cost an exta 10 bucks plus data. How is that surprising? If you started an individual account with a blackberry on AT&T it costs the same exact amount. Do you know why? Ummmmm because individual accounts don't cost $10 for voice service.

Lol. Sounds like he is on a family plan. It may be his portion of the family plan is $40.00, but certainly not on an individual plan.

Not really cheaper on a family plan. If you divided the costs up correctly on a family plan it wouldn't really be just $10 more a line. If I add someone on my family plan and they only pay me $10 then your only gonna get $10 worth of minutes

when jailbroken on cbw..i paid only $50 with tax..500min, unlimited text/data...no 3g though.... currently on same plan with Nexus one, I have 3g now!

att plan that I was considering : 450min, data and 250 text was around $60 or so with 23 or 25% employee discount

Would go back to the iphone, if new phone has better battery life, I liked the iphone and was good, but itll be tough for me to switch from N1, good plan and no contract

Pretty much the same as Verizon.
    450 is $40
Unlimited text is still $20 right?
    Smartphone plan is $30

    Not seeing a difference.

That's because the OP is comparing the cost of an extra line on a family account vs an iPhone on an individual line. It was a dumb comparison from the beginning. If he would have priced a blackberry on an individual account he would have found out the cost is exactly the same. Or if the iPhone was added to a family plan, the cost would be the same that they are paying now. Idiotic from the start.

I've been paying about $300 a month for 5 lines, but this evening I will be dropping 3 of the lines since they're not being used and then dropping another once the ex returns my vehicle. I'll be going with unlimited plan with the $15 plan and $20 unlimited text. Hopefully my job discount drops that a little lower. I guess AT&T is a tad bit on the expensive side. Their taxes are nuts.

As far as I know ATT has nothing to do with the taxes. Most of the are Gov taxes like the FCC and things like that.

There are actually two different sections that most confuse with being taxes. One is actually taxes which it'll say "Government Fees & Taxes" on the head. The other is the "Credits, Adjustments & Other Charges" section which technically is being charged by the gov't to AT&T and AT&T is just putting it right back on the customer. I've seen this from all the carriers, Verizon's being the highest (from my experience) in respects to the section that isn't for the gov't fees & taxes.

I was on Rogers and had one of the most basic voice and data plans. I do believe I had a $15 add on, but my bill was still between $90 and $100 a month. I have virtually the same plan with a BlackBerry now and save $25 a month. Go figure, lol.
