    real quick, i am new to the IPHONE and am charging it as we speak with the power OFF and plugged into the wall...

    i dont have any indicators that it is charging...is this normal?

    maybe turn it on real quick and see if there is an indictor that way..just to make sure

    you can put it in standby after its plugged in and charging I"m almost positive....why do want to shut it off?

    just use airplane mode ........the phone will charge when off but very very slow,they say to keep on while charging, something about battery life...
