    when everything is sync'd/backed up to my home pc?

    I'd like to try to update here at work - but I'm afraid iTunes will try to "backup" my iPhone and wipe out all my music etc since this PC isn't the one I normally use for updates/syncs.

    Yeah I think it will back up your phone and try to sync it with that comp...
