YES and YES. emails still come thru. everything works normal. though on wifi everything works better and faster. remember your using constant non interrupted data connection.
ok great, thx Sj !! I've set the wifi back to on and join to off. This is a very convienent feature i'll be able to take full advantage of now with using my wifi
People underestimate the power Of having wifi on a smartphone. I always used my wifi on my blackberry. I even had an app that would turn off and on for me depending on my stores locations. Go download an app from app store while on wifi and see how fast it goes. Whenever I have many app updates available on the app store I make sure I'm on wifi because it's way faster to update all of them. Wifi is awesome.
I think this weekend will really prove if my iPhone 4S with the latest iOS, is delivering a better battery life. For the past 48 hours or so, I've been 'playing' with the device a bit more than usual, hence this can't be used as a true guide to say that the battery is better\worse...

working from home so i am on wifi except for the 30 min i left to get chems for the pool and push has been turned back on... all for mail and facebook since the update. did not let my phone run down last night nor have i reset the networks
not sure either, i am new to the iphone, and compared to my storm 2 i am doing quite well because by now i would be changing out batteries
and on a heavy day with my bb i would have used up all 3 batteries
Take both the usage and standby numbers and add them get those numbers at Settings>General>Usage at the bottom
Example:
Usage 1hr 24 mins
Standby 3 hrs 5 mins
Total is 4 hrs 29 mins
Then look at your battery percentage lets say it currently reads 75% that means you have used 25% of your battery over 4 hrs 29 mins. Multiply that by 4 (25% is 1/4) and that should give you approx battery life left in time.
Which would be 18 hours I believe which actually is not good. LOL
According to apple iPhone 4s
Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery
Charging via USB to computer system or power adapter
Talk time: Up to 8 hours on 3G, up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM)
Standby time: Up to 200 hours
Internet use: Up to 6 hours on 3G, up to 9 hours on Wi-Fi
Video playback: Up to 10 hours
Audio playback: Up to 40 hours

I am thinking those stats are fiction. Or base model with absolutely nothing installed. A farce knowing that anyone that has an iPhone cannot put it down for at least the first month
ok, idk if the update was better for me, right now off charger at 730am with 46m usage and 1h 31m stand by and i'm down to 87%. That seems kinda sucky to me lol. today, i'm going to let it run down till it shuts off and then do a fresh charge on it to see if that'll help. It did help me last week when i first got my 4S, so i can only hope for that good luck again
now, as for tap-a-talk, i've been seeing this alot lately, and honestly i'm not one for apps very much, but i think i'm gonna check this one out
