Just a quick one , I'm rather bamboozled.

How does auto brightness work on the iPhone 4 ? Because when I'm in a dark room my screen doesn't brighten up but then if I shine a light on it the screen becomes rather bright, can someone explain?

    Many thanks

    It works like this:

when youre in the dark the phone assumes you want to dim the display so the display isnt so bright and hurts your eyes compared to the darkness around you.

When its bright, it assumes you want it up bright so you can see the screen like in say sunlight.

Ive never used the auto brightness as I set it at a comfortable level (just below 50%); kind of just set it and forget it.

I keep mine around 80% or higher all the time. Rarely am I in a total dark environment.
