For the 12 weeks preceding Nov. 25th, Apple gained a 53% market share in the US of new smartphones sold, up from about 38% from the year before. This encompasses Black Friday, but not Cyber Monday. It's expected that Apple will increase its market share in the US during the Holidays, as Apple's sales do not seem to be letting up.

This is in contrast to Western Europe, where Samsung and Android are dominating the scene. Android was at 61% in E5 for the period, up from 51.8% from the year before. Samsung owned that market with 44.3%, with Apple trailing at about 25.3%.
