- Ok. Now you're stretching a bit. The first android device was the G1 (HTC dream) in October of 2008. Google development prior to that is as irrelevant as Apples development of iOS prior to 2007. Also, if you look at android development month prior to the iPhone you'll see pretty quickly that it was more of a blackberry clone than anywhere close to iOS. A simple non touchscreen portrait keyboard device.
As soon as Android can keep my Desktop, Tablet and phone in perfect sync (everything, not just contacts and calendar), and as soon as a manufacturer actually supports the device beyond 6 months let me know & maybe i'll take it seriously. Not until the fragmentation is addressed though.

See one of Google's first Android builds on the 2007 Sooner phone (update) | The Verge
That's the phone Google "intended" to release in 2008! Not very advanced to be honest. They shifted gear pretty quick to copy (compete) with Apple. Sorry....Last edited by xandermac; 06-12-12 at 10:52 AM.

Apple is genius at marketing, and the above described pretty basic but genius marketing traits, so to disagree with me would mean you dont think much of your favorite company's marketing team.06-12-12 10:53 AMLike 0 - Did you happen to read the article?
Update: Diane Hackthorn, an employee of Google's Android engineering group, has posted a comment on OSNews in response to Steven Troughton-Smith's post saying that his impressions are "a little misleading." Hackthorn says she joined the Android team in 2006, and explains that the Dream (also known as the T-Mobile G1) and the Sooner "were basically the same." Hackthorn says they merely look different on the face because the UI on the Sooner was optimized for non-touch input, but that the underlying code is the same version of Android. Additionally, she says "I don't recall the exact dates, but I believe the decision to drop Sooner was well before the iPhone announcement."Last edited by CatlinFD; 06-12-12 at 10:58 AM.

Tell me this, if someone cheapskate out and buys a tablet for $50 made by Soony or samsoong and it has android on it, and runs like cr@p because it's a cheap low end tablet, do you think they leave with a poor opinion of Soony or samsoong, or android? Because I can tell you that after Christmas we were inundated with people who got these things and they were awful...and they were complaining about how crappy android is. I heard a lot of "I don't know why everyone thinks Android is so great"
Google needs to be more selective over who actually loads its OS and not go for sheer numbers.
Numbers mean nothing if it ends up hurting the end users experience and they blame android and not that they are cheap and got exactly what they paid for.

Im of the opinion that the iphone 5 should be at least 4.5 inches to make that whole retina display worthwhile. Siri is not really something i need as well as most of these updates in ios 6. If they change the design of the charging port so that my current crop of apple accessories and charging docks become obsolete that would also dampen my mood toward upgrading to iphone 5.06-12-12 10:57 AMLike 0

Sounds like a little backtracking in response to June 2007 if you ask me, considering she "can't recall the exact dates" but she "believes" the decision to "drop the sooner was well before the iPhone announcement", even though the exact build is May 5th 2007, sure, that's "well before" the iPhone announcement, 1 month before if I'm not mistaken. Yeauh, Google we're well in the lead! So far ahead infact that their direction change delayed the G1 until October of 2008. Very shady stuff.
Diane Hackthorn doesn't appear very credible when you take actual "evidence" into account, you can trust her though.Last edited by xandermac; 06-12-12 at 11:09 AM.
06-12-12 11:04 AMLike 0 - To be honest, I think you lost all your credibility and when you announced you had a billion viruses on all your windows pc's, and that they work like crap after 3 years. Not only did you lose your credibility, but i wouldn't call you competent enough to actually know what is going on with your son's 3gs.
I know I'm being a tad rude here, but some people in this thread clearly lack natural selective qualities. That bugs me.06-12-12 11:09 AMLike 0 -
There is no reason that RIM can't invest in some consultants to help them do exactly the same thing consistently.06-12-12 11:12 AMLike 0 - Apple can get viruses and aren't immune.
I have never got a virus on my Windows PC.
It comes down to the user and not the OS.
I'm running a free Microsoft Anti-Virus program too which I haven't had to setup etc.06-12-12 11:14 AMLike 0 -
But I'm off that issue at this point. Perhaps after all my years of using a PC, setting up and troubleshooting everyone else's issues, I developed the disease called "Apple" and suddenly became incompetent. Stranger things have happened ;-)06-12-12 11:25 AMLike 0 - Your PC doesn't magically get viruses. You do something that brings it on. Such as downloading something containing one, clicking a suspicious attachment, etc.
I know because I troubleshoot enough friends laptops. Normally from trying to download porn, music or movies from sites that aren't really trusted like Beemp3 etc.MasterOfBinary likes this.06-12-12 11:40 AMLike 1 - Oh dear lord. Yep everyone who has ever gotten a virus is watching pron! Evil dirty pron!
At one point last year I got an alert to malware trying to install from my computer from an ad on Crackberry. Guess I shouldn't surf malicious sites like cb.com?
If you think the only way to get viruses is to be doing something you shouldn't on your computer you got another thing coming and perhaps shouldn't be troubleshooting anyone's computer.

Work to do, enjoy your day and the discussion.06-12-12 11:51 AMLike 0 - A mac costs 5 times more than a pc.. Think about that for a second. If you really do get that many viruses, and mulfunctions, you can still buy 5 pcs for the price of one mac, and the upgrade process would leave you with a current pc, as well as a more extended ownership period compared to the 1 mac, which you eventually will have to replace.
5 times more expensive...
Are you sure its that much better in terms of relevancy?
I have a friend (he's a student) who spent a lot of money on a mac. He now asks me where to get extra money so he can go on vacation, and buy a new car. Tells me he wants to save money. Maybe he shouldn't have bought a mac? He swears its that much better than a windows pc which he's never even owned. If you ask me its peer pressure, and i know my friend well. He gives in a lot to peer pressure. He trains and gets big so he can feel comfortable in his own body. This is just my experience btw, which of course makes it totally legit.axeman1000 likes this.06-12-12 12:41 PMLike 1 - Hahahahaha this is the funniest stuff I've read in a while.
