Why has this not happened yet? I'm sure that there are a ton of customers out there on T-Mobile that want to get an iPhone that will work on 3G. We already know that there are a ton of people already using the device on EDGE but really, the full potential of the device is being wasted.

So what's stopping this from happening? Is it that Apple just doesn't want anything to do with T-Mobile? Or is it that T-Mobile can't afford the iPhone? What needs to happen to get Apple to make an iPhone that works on T-Mobile 3G?? Would you buy one?

The reason that the iPhone will not work on TMO 3G is that TMO uses a different band of 3G then ATT. There is nothing in it for Apple to make a sperate iPhone for a carrier that they do not have a deal with. Furthermore, TMO simply does not have the subscriber base to justify Apple entering into an agreement with them, it has nothing to do with them not being able to afford the iPhone.

Apple makes a lot of money from AT&T by only selling them the iPhone. They'll make a lot from Verizon for the same thing with a CDMA iphone. Sprint and TMo won't pay Apple what they want for it IMO.
