Apparently Apple can go from iPad launch to iPhone OS sneak preview in 5 days flat. Wow.
    More as this develops

Let's hope there is some improvement...some customization with some multitasking and I'll take an iPhone back.

Very tempting...very tempting. Yes please! Battery life on my 3GS isn't horrible, but even my Storm2 is better than it.

The way I remember it is that whenever they announce the new iPhone they also
announce the new OS along with it. I'm kind of baffled that they would hold an
event to introduce the OS only.

Just a guess here, but I think the reason is that 4.0 is going to run on both the iPhone and the iPad and that makes it a big enough update to warent it's own event. But like I said it's just a guess.

This is what I've been waiting for since last year's iPhone OS 3.0 preview.

Hopefully the new features won't drain the battery too much faster than 3.0.

Doubt it. If a new iPhone is announced, it will most likely be at WWDC. which is being held June 28-July 2 this year.

Which would be the latest that it has ever been announced. It came out
mid-June of last year and the second week of July the year before that.
Gonna be interesting to see when.

yea updates across the board is generally how it works with Apple. But i remember last time the iTouch users had to pay for their update while it was free for iPhone users. So im wondering if that will be the case this time around as well.

I'm actually looking forward to this. I really wanna see if 4.0 has a whole new look to it considering they've had the same UI for the past 3 years.

    Cool cool.
I honestly don't care if I have to pay. Just looking forward to an update.

EDIT: And yah... OS 2.0 and 3.0 didn't really change much with the UI... just added some features. And Apple is doing extremely well with what they have now...

    But... who knows right?
