An article posted on the BBC shows that Apple routinely gives law enforcement access to customer data. Apple complies with greater proportion of US data demands - BBC News . Is Apple just grand standing or is there stance on privacy for real? You be the judge.

Previous Apple phones without the trusted platform could be open to side channel attacks. Good luck trying that on a new iPhone. Also, a lot of iCloud data may be visible to Apple anyway.

If you really want to keep your data secure, don't trust US-based providers (Google, Apple, etc.) and use fully encrypted storage with data encryption in flight and at rest.
