Well, I didn't want to lose my upgrade [business account; long story], so I ordered an iPhone 4S from AT&T today (I did it in the shop).

It should be here in 21 to 28 days. I'll use my iPhone 4 till then.

I don't think I've ever ordered a mobile phone and had to wait almost a month for the delivery of it. This will be interesting...

    iPhone 4S
    White
    16GB

A testament to Apple's popularity. Good luck and enjoy when you get it.

If I'm not mistaken, you can still pick them up in-store at some places and even pre-order from Apple and pick up the following day still.

I was told the same thing - 21-28 days. I ordered 2 iPhone 4s and one cheapo for my mom on October 11. The order got screwed up and somehow canceled - they just re-processed yesterday and have to wait ANOTHER 21-28 days! AAGGGHHHHH

Sadly, he won't. I've been monitoring orders placed in my area and it is taking roughly 20 days for the order to get off of backorder, then another 3 days for delivery. So around 23 days before he will receive it. There are orders from 10/10, that are still on Backorder. The 10/7-10/9 orders just went off backorder yesterday and received tracking numbers in my area.

Wow, that sucks. You would have been just receiving your tracking numbers in a the next couple of days if that didn't happen.

    I'm slowly getting mad...

People have ordered theirs via an AT&T shop, after I did [26th Oct], and they already have tracking numbers, and have been charged, etc., etc.

Hmm, something tells me am about to cancel my order. It is not like I need an iPhone 4S, I have the 4. Silly boy.

I'm tempted to pick up a 64GB, after realizing the kind of footprint iOS apps carried, along with the content I already have stored on this bad boy I'm using now

AT&T can be so annoying sometimes.

I tried to cancel my order today, in the shop, face-to-face, and they wouldn't let me do it. Despite the fact that payment hasn't been taken yet, and that it hasn't shipped either. Seriously AT&T?

Oh, and get this, when it is delivered, and I take it to the shop to get a refund, I get charged a $35 return fee. Yes, that's how AT&T are rolling now.

Rather sad. I know the economy is bad and all that, but to stiff the customer like that is simply shameful.

omg, thats terrible navi !! Well, i'm sure you'll try this - when you return the un-opened/un-used equipment, i would try and push for a $35 refund or at least have them credit it to your next bill.

good luck with your new device. also good luck with trying to get the 35$ refunded, hopefully that will go in your favor.

I've had nothing but trouble trying to get a family plan with AT&T with two 4s phones. It was like I was having to beg them to get their service. I did get one of the 4s phones, the other is to be delivered today (keeping fingers crossed).......

All carriers do that no matter what phone you order. AT&T can't sell that iPhone as new anymore. They have to sell it as refurbished or customer returned, thus losing money. It doesn't matter if you opened the box or not.
