Scan and Go - a lightweight QR/barcode reader

Typically, I use a QR/barcode reader only to see the content of a barcode or to directly open the encoded link. It is surprisingly annoying how overloaded most of the reader apps are: tap to start scanning (I already opened the app!), tap to open the link (- Why cant you do this automatically?), verifying your link for phishing (= concealed statistics collection).

So I spent an evening and made a lightweight native barcode reader, with just one feature and a whole lot of anti-features:

    • Scans and opens barcodes
    • No "click to scan"
    • No history of previous codes
    • No built-in code generator
    • No suspicious permissions
    • No beeping/vibrating
    • No ads

Supported code formats: QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-8, EAN-13, Code 39/93/128, ITF.

Available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian and Vietnamese.

BlackBerry World >> Scan and Go
    Price: Free & no ads.

That is very generous to create the app and offer it for free. Good luck with the app.

As a first step of the inevitable evolutionary conversion of a zippy barcode reader into an overloaded do-it-all hog app with Blackjack and plugins, I just added a flashlight and a macro mode buttons.

Ok, now seriously. Adding an action bar was a requirement set by the Built for BlackBerry review team. Since an empty action bar would not justify its name, I had to add in some features, too

Nice app. Would really help if it would have a history of scanned barcodes as well as the ability to share the entire history (by exporting it to a CSV file and invoking the "Share" mechanism). I'm really missing a barcode scanner like that in BB World.
