On my Razr cellphone, when I pressed the button on a headset (bluetooth or wired), I got a voice prompt, "Please say a command" and I could then make a call directly e.g. "call John Smith". As far as I can tell, when I press the button on headsets with my Vibrant without opening an app, nothing happens. So, I can't make a call without getting my Vibrant and pressing a dialer button. Is there a setting somewhere that allows me to dedicate the headset button to initiating a call with voice dialing so I can initiate a call hands free? [Didn't know whether I should have posted this as an inquiry about apps. Guess I could do that next if there's no setting, although a quick search for apps to handle the problem came up empty.]
ok I got it working but the only thing is that no matter what name I call it comes up with the wrong name or I get an error and it closes....anyone else having the same issue
Try Vlingo. Free app from the market. If you used it on BB, you'll be very familiar with how great it works. It's voice dialing has been spot on for me and I set a side button to launch. There are also widgets and shortcuts you can put on a homescreen for easy access if the hard button launch won't work.
Never had great luck with google voice dialer finding the right person.
