    OK ... myabe you already know this. But it took me exactly a week to figure it out. Remember with a blackberry you could dial a contact by typing the name on the keyboard. It can be done with the Moto Droid, too, just requires an extra step. Tap the phone button on the home screen, tap the search button at the bottom right of the front screen, viola! Keyboard pops up and you can type in the contact's name.

    you can do this without even hitting the phone app. Just hit the search button on the bottom right and start typing a name in your contact list. It will bring contacts up first and then potentially anything else on your phone that is close...
