Motorola is spending that much on a single phone.. they will also be advertising the entire Droid line which is already tons of money.

Apple spent 1 billion but advertises mostly the iPhone AND iPad. So roughly $500 million a device.

Samsung has the Galaxy s4, Galaxy Note, galaxy s4 active, galaxy camera, galaxy tab, etc.

I don't think this article is lying per say but I don't think they took the number of devices into account.

They'll sell a lot of units and the carriers will support it better than blackberry in the USA.

In a way, I agree with the article, but I also don't. The writers sort of take it out of perspective. Just as an example, Apple spends $1 billion, sure, but they have iPhone, iPad, and the Mac line that they advertise. Motorola is spending all of this just on their new Droid lineup.

Not even on the Droid lineup. It's only on the Moto X. I said the same thing in a previous comment. The article is very inaccurate since it doesn't take the number of devices into consideration.

Haha no worries! But so that means Motorola will prolly spend close to 1 Billion in Advertising which puts it on par with Apple.

Right. So we still make the same point that the article isn't telling the whole story haha

Moved the thread to the appropriate forum and cleaned up aisle 7. Let's see if we can keep the thread on topic now, hmm? Engaging in bickering and quoting troublemaking posts just costs other members those posts in the clean up.

Motorola is spending a ton of money on the droid x, but when the Google Nexus5 comes out, the "x" will be toast.

Nexus phones generally arent pushed towards the average consumer. The X will outsell the Nexus by leaps and bounds.
