- Well, after using both of the Droids for quite some time, I have come to the decision to go back to my Storm 1.
Here are my reasons.
The Eris takes good pictures but has no flash.
The Motorola has flash, yet it takes the most horrid pictures I have seen in quite some time. I am actually embarrassed in how bad they are. My Storm 1 and my daughters Env-3 take way better pictures. It's just unacceptable for a 5 mega pixel camera to be this bad.
E-mail and texting is just not very good for people over 40. The fonts are not customizable like the Blackberrys and the eye strain is just too much at times. I actually have a headache after using the droids throughout the day. The font issue has been addressed before by others so I am not alone in this.
Typing on either the virtual or physical boards will break you down in the long run. I think whoever comes out with a physical keyboard that you can actually see the keys and spaced correctly, you will have a winner.
In summary, the droids do many things very well...browser, gps are tops. The Storm 1 with the current 328 software, while not the slickest, does more in my opinion on a consistant basis.
I think the droids are going in the right direction. The bottom line is that if you don't care about a few shortcomings on the Droids, it is a far superior phone. My decision to be honest, is not final yet. I have to decide if texting and e-mail are that important. The camera issue shouldn't be an issue because these are phones first. In saying that, it still bothers the crap out of me that the camera is basically worthless in most situations.12-12-09 01:45 AMLike 0 - I don't see a problem with the camera at all to be honest. I have taken several pictures and used them in powerpoints for some of my presentations (in college) and they turned out fantastic. With the new update the camera is even more snappier than before so I don't see what the big deal is about the camera??12-12-09 02:27 AMLike 0
- I got a question for all the Driod owners, well actually this pretains more to Andriod 2.0. But I heard that in Andriod 2.0 you sync up your contacts exactly like WebOs. Is this true? An example is when I call someone on my Pre it shows their Facebook picture, and it changes when they change. Does Andriod 2.0 do this?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com12-12-09 02:33 AMLike 0 - The Droid isn't for everyone. I kept my Storm just in case I hated the Droid but so far the Storm is collecting dust. The ONLY things I miss from my Storm is the Suretype keyboard in potrait mode and Bluetooth voice dialing DIRECTLY from my bluetooth headset. I have seen work arounds but they are not the same as tapping the button on my headset and saying a name to call. If and hopefully when Android come's out with these two items I will be 100% satisfied with my Droid.
jliu07, my Droid does that UNLESS I set the picture to something different. I think you can also stop this if you have Facebook not set to sync.12-12-09 05:19 AMLike 0 - Why do people feel the need to say "goodbye" everytime they change phones? I don't think I've visited the Storm forum once since I activated my Droid.
Just change and move on. No one cares that you personally don't like what it does. It's not a phone problem, its you.12-12-09 10:32 AMLike 0 - Let me see, the camera sucks and you tell me it's not a phone problem? I wasen't blasting the phone, just giving my two cents on what I know to be a real problem with the Droid. If you ignore the problem, nothing ever gets fixed. How can you tell me that its me that is the problem?12-12-09 10:38 AMLike 0

As far as your issues with being old and not being able to read the fonts, well thats a problem with you rather than the phone itself. I realize changing font sizes would be nice but the Droid doesnt. If that is an absolute need for you then the Droid isnt the right choice for you and thats understandable.12-12-09 11:49 AMLike 0 - 12-12-09 11:53 AMLike 0

Anyways, don't let the door hit you in the ......12-12-09 12:57 PMLike 0 - The Droid isn't for everyone. If you have some time left on your 30 day period, try switching back to your Storm and use it for a while. You may find yourself missing the Droid.12-12-09 01:10 PMLike 0
- Final thoughts? Not possible for me, more updates coming, so that would be premature. I tell you that this phone kicks major *** and is at the top of it's game, and will be for some time to come. Any one contracting in with this phone will be current for the tenure of their contract. That is what matters IMO. Android is Verizon's only platform that makes paying for a data plan worth it IMO.12-12-09 01:14 PMLike 0

I'll keep you posted.12-12-09 02:24 PMLike 0 - Personally I like hearing why people don't like it as much as why they do. Since most users have used a BB like I have I want to know the perceived shortcomings of the android models before I decide on one. Small font that cannot be enlarged in email could bother me (and why the heck cannot it be adjusted, that's pretty basic. A bb has been able to do that for many years, why not the great android?). Cameras are not that big for me, but I use them sometimes. Typing is big for me and I like BB keyboards a lot. Facebook/Twitter I don't use. Keep on posting!12-12-09 02:49 PMLike 0

I really dislike the email handling of the droid, especially now that Yahoo is messed up for me. When it worked it was just "ok"
The keyboard is kinda back and forth for me. I got a replacement phone Wednesday, and I will say for somereason I love the physcial kb on this one, no problems. And since the update, the virtual landscape keyboard blows away the storm imo.
Some apps force close, not a big deal, and definately better than a battery pull/12-12-09 03:16 PMLike 0 - On second thought I just took a picture using the Droid and its ok. Other pictures Ive taken with the Droid looked better. The thing is I think when you offload them from the phone to the computer they dont look as good as they do on the phone. I need to do some more testing of the pic quality. As of now I have to retract a previous statement and say my Tour's pictures look better when viewing on the computer.12-12-09 04:51 PMLike 0

I went from a S1 to the Droid, and the droid takes very good pictures, IMHO better than the Storm. Neither are are as quick to shoot as a real digital camera, but both are fine for MMS and FB, with the Droid being the better of the two...12-12-09 09:37 PMLike 0 -
On the phone, they look so so, on the computer, it is complete crap on the Droid.12-12-09 11:54 PMLike 0 -
