For Droid users - how does the media app compare to that of blackberry, for music and video? Which is better? I read a bunch of reviews of the droid saying that the media player sucks, but they didn't really go into why it sucks. Is the player similar or comperable to that of BlackBerry?

The Droid media player doesn't suck, it's just plain and that is what the reviewers commented on. It lacks visual candy, so to speak. However, the actual functionality of playing music and video is superb.

Yah what he said. built in not great, but the potential is greater, so get a 3rd party media player and its a no contest.

3rd party media players...unlike the BB there are several. Just pick the one you want. Like the Iphone...we have an app for that ;-)

To put it blunt... the music and media player of the Droid freakin sucks. I've played with a few of the "free" media players found in the android market, and they're just as much of a joke. It's just one of a few reasons I might end up going back to my S1 until either an update comes out (2.1), or until there's another droid phone on VZW.

Note: Other than being a very young and fresh OS that seems to still be in Beta (and not all that well thought out), the droid is awesome.

You are out of your mind if you think the storm has a better media player. The storms media section is mediocre at best, doesn't play most video media extensions and sketches all the time with video errors. I would rather have a basic player that plays without errors then one I can't rely on.

The speakers on the Bold are awesome. I've heard reports that the speaker and audio jack are a little sub-par on the Droid. Is there any truth to this? I really want to play with one of these things.

As long as its somewhat comparable to the storms media player. I wasn't expecting anything like the iphone but I'm sure it will get better with updates. How are people syncing music?

Double twist. It's free and sort of like Media Sync although not as slick IMHO.

I like using my smart phones as an mp3 players so the media player is very important to me. Haven't found one I love yet. But in defense of the Storm1, I did love the media player after the 5.0 upgrade.

For the record, I hate the placement of the Droid audio jack.

I like the media player on my 9700. I will admit that I don't really watch a lot of videos but I do listen to music and have never had a problem. The sound from the Bold is great, probably the best I have had on a smartphone, but it doesn't have the visual effects that the Iphone has. But I don't really care what it looks like, its how it performs that I am interested in.
