Apple's iPhone slips, Google's Android gains | Mobilize - InfoWorld02-03-10 03:09 PMLike 0 - heres the important part
According to ABI, Apple's iPhone accounted for 18.1 percent of global smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2009. In the fourth quarter, that number dropped to 16.6 percent.
The change itself isn't enormous, but what's noteworthy is that smartphone sales overall grew by 26 percent -- yet, even with that significant growth in the market, Apple's iPhone sales fell.02-04-10 09:38 AMLike 0 - Personally I like the Android setup more than the iPhones. However, I fully expect those percentages to mean nothing in a few months when their 4G version is announced, the more than make up for those percentage drops ....Apple's been holding it down even though they havent released a trully new device (just minor updates)....Again, personally I prefer the Google experience though.02-04-10 10:50 AMLike 0

and possibly AT&T.02-04-10 11:06 AMLike 0 - I agree with yaboid those sales are gonna go way up again once the 4g is released and you know Apple isn't going to let down when companies are starting to gain on them.02-04-10 01:17 PMLike 0

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com02-04-10 01:42 PMLike 0 - I think Apple should make an actual new model. The last model wasn't exciting enough to bring that many more people in I think.02-04-10 01:59 PMLike 0
- I think someone should figure out a way to port Android 2.1 onto an iphone 3GS. I definitely think that would get Steve Job's undies in a bunch.02-04-10 02:08 PMLike 0
- Numbers aren't surprising at all. The current phone's getting old, and it's only on ATT. Verizon sucked in a lot of Christmas folks with the Droid/Eris (including my wife). They'll need a brand new unit this year to stop the bleeding, and I bet it comes out around October in time for the Christmas Rush.02-04-10 02:18 PMLike 0

came out with or if the rumor holds true that they come out with a 2ghz
device. If not I think Apple will be just spittin in the wind.....02-04-10 02:22 PMLike 0 - Numbers aren't surprising at all. The current phone's getting old, and it's only on ATT. Trust me Google is not letting up.02-04-10 02:23 PMLike 0 - Its kind of funny but since I got my Moto Droid I haven't really cared too much about what is right around the corner. I finally have a phone that does everything I want it to. The best part is Google and the phone manufacturers are only going to make it better as time goes on. I just wish the Official 2.1 for the Droid would get here a little faster.02-04-10 03:19 PMLike 0

- Honestly, another thing that would really help Apple out is if they ever release the iphone on verizon. I can't even tell you how many people i know that want an iphone, but refuse to switch to ATT service. I even know some people that left verizon just to get an iphone, but can't stand being on ATT. Apple releasing a device for verizon will really help out their sales numbers, and branch out to the zillions of potential verizon customers. The iphone is a neat device, but few people are actually happy with their phone service.02-04-10 04:37 PMLike 0
- Couldn't they each just purchase an iPod touch in the meantime? I've owned an iPhone 3G and iPod Touch and can say they're almost exactly the same except the iPhone has a built-in phone, camera, and GPS. There are probably a few reasons why we haven't seen an iPhone on VZW yet.
