I thought this was an option but can't find it. Am I just missing it or was I wrong about the feature?

i've just got yaata as well and can't find that option.

Well, i sent a text and realised that yaata is auto set to entering a new line when the 'enter' key is pressed.

Suits me! (but i couldn't find a way to change it, so perhaps it's not optional )

I don't have it enabled myself, but try this:
From menu, select "Look & Feel"
Then select "Conversation"
Under the "Editor" heading, there should be an entry called "Enter key behavior"
When you select it, the following options should appear: "New Line," "Send," "Emoticons"

I hope this is what you're looking for. Like I said, I don't use the option myself, so I haven't tried it.
