I have ticked 'detect workouts', and was quite surprised to find that on return from my walk I had some statistics identified about my walk. (I carry my phone in a leg pocket of my trousers).

    How is this app working?

It uses the accelerometer in determining number of steps and stride length. The app is surprisingly accurate when compared to GPS distances.

First time I've bothered with a pedometer in any format, or used a 'health' type app, so testing it out.
