Nope, considering only a handful of people have them at the moment.

For now right? Lol. But BlackBerry would jump on a patch pretty quick if it ever did get rooted. There would be major liabilities there if they didn't.

For now, Currently anything which changes system files illegally would stop the device from booting

Somehow someway there are devs working on root for the Priv. Myself coming from Android devices for years, with rooting a phone there are many perks but at the same time it's not entirely a must-have. You can change remove system files taking up space, block all ads, add themes, run lighter roms..but so far i have no problems or quarrels with the Priv. This phone is a beauty and runs smooth as ever! There are work arounds for certain things you're looking for regarding root. Enjoy your device! Security at it's finest!!!

If you want to be master of your phone, then root is essential. Rooting is possible for all android phone. Priv will not be exceptional, after all it is an android.

Oh you can probably root the phone (i.e., get to the root level of file). But do you have a working recovery image? Will it work if you don't have the keys between the hardware and software?

All this talk of rooting... no one ever specifies the exact mechanics for the specific device. It's all talk....

Android with hard coded chips inside that gets checked for changes on every boot. If there is a change it won't boot, theoretically.

It's kinda like having administrative rights on your own PC. The first thing people usually do with this 'right' is uninstall bloatware apps that your phone normally prevents you from doing. Who's to say I 'have' to have these Tmo apps on my phone? Having root means 'you' have control of those simple things.
