Well, apkmirror is pretty safe. I download from there all the time. And besides, a lot of legitimate applications scan your contacts and upload them, like Facebook, and WhatsApp, and Instagram, and all Google apps, etc.

Still, if you only download from play store and apk mirror, then you're pretty safe.

IveAnd any app sophisticated enough that Android doesn't warn you about, is going to fly under the mirror of Malwarebytes for a couple months.

I don't have facebook, whatsapp, instagram accounts.

And don't give access to contacts to bbm or telegram - my only social media apps.

I also never have 'location" turned on.

I think you'll find I'm far more conservative an end user than you, and I choose malwarebytes.

MBAM doesn't have root privileges, it's not a system app like Play Protect or whatever. Frankly, as long as the user is of sound mind, mobile antivirus are unnecessary and are snake oil.

having this application error too. Just deinstalled it and deleted tons of trash. Now it runs perfectly. Lucky

I'm not sure what you mean .....

If you think malwarebytes is playing up then perhaps clear the cache to see if it resolves any issues: settings, apps, clear cache (and clear data also if you want)
