I'm fed up that there's no choice to update playstore , it just auto does it.

The first I realise it's being/been updated is when malwarebytes alerts me. That sucks!!!

Anyone found a way to force playstore to request permission to update?

Note, I'm not talking about app updates, I have that set to manual.

Playstore settings only caters for app updates, not playstore itself as indicated in my post.

If you think otherwise please post pic.

Nope, there's no way to do that. At least not without rooting.

I'm curious as to why this would be a problem.

Because I don't know how large the update is, don't get the opportunity to schedule it, and may choose not to actually update.

Why should the playstore be any different to other apps in respect to updates?

It's different because it may impact whether or not it can function properly if changes are made server-side.

Anyway, it's only 50mb installed, and about half that to download.

That is strange indeed. The moment I turned the phone on and set it up, one of the first things I did was disable the Auto-Update feature, and the PlayStore itself never updated without me choosing to do that.

I got the notification bar that there is an update available for the PlayStore, but it didn't update itself...In the almost one month I've had my BlackDroid phone, there has only been one PlayStore update.
