I just read a post about this on Reddit. Apparently the Android Facebook app uses around 20% of users' battery-life throughout the day.

Is this something inherent in Android OS? poor optimization...or is this something that could be prevented in Marshmallow by limiting permissions?

Any Priv owners seeing high access rates from Facebook in the D-Tek app?

It's often said, "never attribute to malice that which is adequately attributed to stupidity", but I'm not sure when it comes to Facebook.

No, because I deleted it lol.

It turns out uninstalling Facebook for Android is pretty great | Android Central

267 Location pings in 7 days.

On the other had, Twitter has had 13.6x that (3643) in the same time period.

I deleted Facebook and Twitter and installed Metal. A very easy solution.

Hmm is everything still incorporated into the HUB when using Metal? And does replying to a comment within a comment reply on Facebook work? I used to get those notifications on BB10 Facebook but couldn't see them on reply to them.

No, Metal isn't in the Hub. That's fine with me, since I don't even like Facebook stuff cluttering the Hub on my Passport, but of course your preferences may be different.

Yes, you can reply to replies.

I'm a light user of Facebook and Twitter. I set Metal to check both once an hour. It uses a fraction of the CPU and bandwidth of the two real apps, and it has some nice theme options. For me the positives outweigh the lack of Hub integration.

Thanks for the info. I may go this route also because hub integration isn't a deal breaker for me. Was just asking out of curiosity.
