I tried to find the most appropriate thread for this. I have a z30 I love but I'm needing a few apps for a joint project. I was looking at getting a cheap $15 android phone. It says it's running kitkat 4.4.2.

While I know this should probably be in Android land, I significantly favor the Crackberry community for advice, being an avid BlackBerry user for over 10 years.

Would this phone (running Kitkat 4.4.2) even run basic apps off the play store (i.e. Snapchat, mobile banking, etc...)?

yes it will run all Android apps, probably can count on one hand the number of apps that require Android 5.0+. How well things like games run will depend on the hardware. Having a inexpensive low spec Android device affects smoothness and how well app switching works but a basic device with 1GB of ram and 4 core CPU will be fine for your most popular Android apps.

If you can get a used Moto E or better Moto G that would be great for your use case.
