BMW Wireless app [Bluetooth music streaming]-bmw-front.jpg

    Hi!

As a longtime BMW customer, I lately played around with the BMW Wireless app that is available on Play Store.

According to BMW, the BMW Wireless App assists you with simple and intuitive operation of the most important functions of your smartphone in the car and on the motorcycle.

The most important functions for your BMW car or motorcycle are:
    - Listen to music in your BMW (wireless if bluetooth is available)
    - Make phone calls in your BMW
    - Current and localised weather and weather forecasts

After downloading and installing the app, I sadly had to learn that the app incorporates a feature of never seen stupidity. As soon as the app connects to your BMW, all media features are locked and you get to see a message that the app can't be used when driving. The crazy thing is, that it doesn't work even if the car is standing still and ignition is off.

That said, and due to the fact that I can change it, I removed that hilarious code from the app. The app now connects as it should and it can be used anytime you like. It may not be the best bluetooth streaming app around, but if you are a BMW fan you may want to give it a try

    Download BMW Wireless app 2.1.1:

    Enjoy!

Wow ... thanks for all that you do for the community. I love what you have done, but don't love the car you drive!!

Do they have a similar app for Mercedes? Although I am on BB10, so perhaps that is a moot question since it looks like you updated the app for Android phones. Will it work if sideloaded?

I suppose this only works if you have a combox?

The app should work with any Bluetooth radio, regardless of the car brand. And you don't need a combox (=voicemailbox?).

I mean the factory Bluetooth streaming option. My car only has Bluetooth phone, not streaming. Think it needs Nav or ConnectedDrive (which the previous owner of my car didn't check on the options list).

Correct. It must support BT streaming which is part of Nav. Sorry to hear that you can't use it. What model are you driving?

    F30 328i, 2012.

Yeah, my current solution is a $20 adapter to the AUX and Drivemode.

Have to say really like the ZF 8HP in the 5. Drove the 528xi with that transmission, it's smoooooth.

If I am reading this right, this will not work in my 09 35d x5 without Nav. Is that correct?

That being said - Cobalt - you da man

ZF is just around the corner from where I live, on the other side of the lake of constance. It's one of the best transmissions ever built. Smooth and fast.

Yeah, you at least need the built in streaming capability, either in CIC or NBT.
