Does Google really block 3rd party Youtube clients?

I looked through Google Play store to see what Youtube apps there are; and I was surprised to see that there are barely any! (Except for the one from Google of course).

The reason I ask is that with a BlackBerry 10 third party Youtube client (Supertube/Fast Tube) that I paid $3 for, I enjoy a video play while the app is minimized, video download, and ad blocking.

I know Google recently introduced paid version of Youtube called Youtube Red which costs $10 a month for adblocking, minimized video playback, and video downloading, basically what I am getting from my BlackBerry 10 third party Youtube app (except for the "plus" contents from some Youtube channels).

So going back to the question, does that mean Google is really preventing third party youtube apps from showing up on Google Play store, so that they can force Youtube ads and sell Youtube Red?

If that is the case, it is really one more big reason to hold on to my BlackBerry 10 devices.

It might just be a blessing that there is no native Youtube app in BlackBerry 10.

Why would Google want to undermine a source of income within their own store by allowing 3rd party apps to offer the same/similar content for free? If you don't want to pay for a service, then there are app options available online that you can side load, which will give you what you're looking for... for free.
