Open the app drawer, (circle with 6 dots, near bottom center of screen), find the app, touch and hold it until 'remove' appears at top left of screen. Without letting go, drag the icon into the 'remove'.
If the app shows on one of the home screens, you can also do it from there, without opening the app drawer.
Unless there is a reason, (price, not available) use Google Play instead of Amazon. Not that there is anything wrong with Amazon, but if you ever have to completely reset your phone, I don't think Amazon will automatically restore apps. I could be wrong, but even if I am, it's another procedure in restoring, which is a pain as is.
I suspect the OP is on BB10 and your instructions are for regular Android phones.
I have a particular Amazon App Store app that can't be uninstalled no matter what I try. If I tap/hold/choose delete (from installed app list in app store) it crashes the App Store. When I re-open, the "Do you want to uninstall" box shows up - selecting yes crashes again. Selecting cancel allows me to continue.
Also tried uninstalling via the App icon (long press, tap trash icon, etc). Doesn't delete.

If so, she posted in the wrong forum. I've been away from BB10 for over a year now, and don't remember what I used to know.
OP has the Android delete bug.
