Anyone can recommend a cheap Android device I can use wifi-only to test Android apps to see if I like them before I load them onto my daily driver (Q10)? I don't like installing apps then uninstalling because it always leaves fragments behind... I don't care if it has the worst call quality in the world, will never use it as a phone. Just as long as it can run the latest Android and has a camera... If it's somewhat decent that'll be a bonus, but not a requirement.

I recently picked up a galaxy s3 from ebay for development purposes and use it on wifi only too. Totally worth it since you can just buy whatever model is cheapest since you won't be using it as a regular phone.

Forgot to mention it was 80 bucks.

Cool, thanks for the info. I know there are plenty of cheap ones, but I also know some of them are so crappy that they can't even run the latest Android. So I was wondering what is somewhat kind of decent but also cheap. I'll definitely take a look at the S3...

Eh, too expensive for what I'm using it for. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

S3 is definitely your best bet. I know for sure it runs some of the newer software (not sure if the newest) and it runs fairly smoothly considering it's an android

I have mine running 4.4. It's seems fine, but I don't really do any heavy lifting on it.

If you are in the USA than stores that sell phones for Boost often have sales on the Moto G for Boost model# MOT1031ABB. Seen them as low as $60 at BestBuy during Blackfriday. Moto G is Z3 level specs but fast enough for your purposes.

I'd say you should look for a used Nexus 4. Should be quite cheap and able to run stock Google images (4.4/5.0)

have in mind, some cheapest phones might not be able to install some apps. i would say if you'll find used cheap nexus 4 - go for it.

Thanks for the info everyone, but I'm starting to wonder, would a small tablet be cheaper since they do not have phone capabilities?

Not all Android apps are optimized for tablets and if devs believe their app doesn't work well in that form factor they won't show up for you in the Playstore and pricewise a decent tablet is ~$100 used so not cheaper than a Moto G.

Go on amazon and look up the brand BLU
They make very cheap android devices most of them running KitKat...

Never had one but they have very good reviews multiple colors and they are all under like $90

Ik I always see ads for like $30-50 android tablets but they don't even have a brand name.
Might just be a generic tablet made in China by various companies.

I'd go with a BLU device.

Here are some BLU sub-$50 devices running Android 4.4 KitKat :

They have many sub-$100 devices that are better than these, but you one of these should be great for what you want it for.

The Moto G is probably a great choice as well
