Did you check the setting to allow apps from other sources? I should alert you to that and send you there to do that.
Go to App Manager, then Installing Apps, and you will see the box to check.
Make sure you uncheck it after you are finished!

thank you Carl Estes for your reply. i have checked and the functionality is on. so i should be able to install any apps without an issue. actually i install APK files without any problem.

to be more precise, when trying to install the amazon app via amazon app store, i get stuck on "Installing..."

    any idea ?

U might have to re-install the amazon app. It's on their website. Think the stock one that comes with the passport needs to be updated

You can always check /misc/android/Android/data/com.amazon.venezia/files/apks and make sure it's empty before clicking "Get App" in the Appstore.

And BTW, if you want to save a local copy of your apks, that's the place to grab them BEFORE you click Install on the package installer.

I was having the issue: signed out of the appstore, then deleted the app and seemed to have fixed the issue.

Reboot and wait 15 minutes before touching your phone. If that doesn't work, consider a clean install of your OS.
