Default Setting up WIFI with a wired connection that is always on, and no PC?

I work in a camp in a remote location.

The only source for internet is an Ethernet plug on the wall in my room.

I would usually plug my laptop into that plug and I'm good to go, no password or anything
it just works.

I would like to leave the laptop at home, and roll up there like a rock star, sporting nothing but the playbook.

My idea is that ill go over to future shop, buy a wireless router plug that in instead of the laptop and presto Im surfing crackberry.com on my own personal wireless network.

Is this going to work?

Do I need a computer initially to set the router up? and if so are there any stand alone routers?

I would appreciate any insight you could give.

you will need a computer for the initial router setup.

and also, because your connection is already split and probably firewalled
the success of this might vary because the router might not like the daisy chained sequence.

like if you put a router to a router it wont work without a lot of tinkering
but if you put a router, a switch then a router it tends to work better.

you should talk to the IT in-charge of your connection and building for guaranteed success.
