Issues connecting to the internet when out and about!

Hello,
This is my first time on crackberry, so apologies if I've posted this in the wrong place!

Basically I have a problem with my internet connection. I've had a curve 8520 for just over a year now, and never had any real problems.
The other day I upgraded it to os 5. Now, my problem is that when I'm out and about (for example, in town, and not at home where I'm connected directly to our wifi) my internet just won't seem to connect!
Before I upgraded, it was fine. I could go anywhere and my internet would work fine. Sure it'd be a bit slow due to not being directly connected to something, but it worked. Now, it just doesn't seem to want to connect when I'm out. I just get an error!

It's really annoying me, so I'd appreciate any advice really!

I believe it is a RIM problem as all of my emails are not being pushed.
