| | Engadget - Motorola Xoom £450 for wifi only...
As far as I can tell, the Xoom is the only tablet comparable to the PB regarding specs.
At £450 for the wifi version with 32GB memory, RIM has a challenge for it's pricing.

I'm on my BB so if there's an issue with the link then I'm sorry.

UK prices for electronics are higher than US typically so the PB cost will probably be right in line with that pricing i think it the point.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I think this price is really good, especially as it's for a 32GB model. If the 32GB PB matches this then I'm gonna be incredibly happy as I've been expecting the 16GB unit to be £499.

RIM needs to make their 32GB model cost $250 then or else it will spell trouble in the US for them...

personally i find that price rather odd, not because its low or anything, but because the iPad 32Gb 3G model is cheaper than the 3/4G equipped Xoom, so logic would dictate the wifi only Xoom would be more expensive than the 32Gb wifi only iPad, but the iPad costs £510 so that would (theoretically) make the gap between the 3/4G and wifi only Xooms huge in price
or put another way:
Xoom 3/4G - $800 plus taxes
iPad 32Gb 3G - $729 plus taxes
iPad 32Gb wifi only - $599 plus taxes
Xoom wifi only (based off the above) - in the region of $520 plus taxes
iPad cost of cellular radio - $130 plus taxes
Xoom cost of cellular radio (again, speculatively) - circa $280
and thats a big price for a cellular radio.
of course the above is rough gestimation so please dont take it as fact

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | I just purchased one at a VZW store for $599 and received a $150 discount on the 2 year contract, so I'm happy with that. I am extremely satisfied with the device as well.

450 pounds is roughly $700 USD, I have no interest in the Motorola Xoom whatsoever anyways, they suck at support outside of the US (read their non-US section at supportforums.motorola.com), the Xoom's initial $800(tax if applied) plus $20 MTM plan minimum (plus $35 activation fee) is way overboard, I don't expect the wifi only version to be THAT much cheaper. The Playbook's sub $500 subjected price is still attractive.

I think EU shows their prices with the taxes and etc already added in. The Wifi Xoom will probably be around $600, $550 would be nicer
Also you don't have to get the plan for 1 month. Although I would activate it for one month, use the data and then suspend the account and buy a data plan every 6 months or to be able to resuspend the account and not worry about a activation fee.
I'm guessing the 32GB Playbook will be around the same price as the Wifi Xoom and from what I can tell that's been posted on the threads here many are opting for the 32GB PlayBook

If this is accurate, at todays exchange rate, the wifi only xoom will cost $732.47?
