Default Verizon discontinuing Palm?

When I was deciding on what phone to purchase the Verizon Rep told me that Verizon was dropping the Palm line. Has anyone else heard this?

The Palm Pre 2 with WebOS 2.0 is supposed to be arriving soon, that's probably why.

Verizon employees will be the last to confirm or deny the existence of a new line. Might as well have asked about the new iPhone.

He made it sound like all Palm products were being dropped but he could have gotten it wrong, or he didn't know jack. (most likely) I would have been willing to wait but my old phone was not working well and I needed to get another phone quickly. I was going to continue with Palm or go with the BB. When he said Verizon was discoing the Palms I chose the BB because I thought it was more of an adult/business phone compared to other phones out there.

He probably meant the current Palm devices they have currently in stores.

The GSM version of the Palm Pre 2 will be sold via HP site at a discounted price for developers. It is unknown if it will be sold to the public or go to any GSM carriers.
A little bit before the Pre 2 was released on the French carrier SFR, HP/Palm stated it would be coming to Verizon in the "coming months".
As far as i know Verizon hasnt announced it, but it has been noted on PreCentral.net that the Pre Plus is no longer sold online. So it would make sense that they are getting ready for the new phone.

It's probably because of the new Pre 2. I would take whatever those reps say with a grain (or bucket) of salt.

A lot of carriers are not carrying the Pre2 even though they carried the Pre 1...

So I wouldn't assume that too quickly...

Yea I would imagine that some carriers are going to wait to see if the phone sells well before picking it up.

Palm USA|Mobile Products for Consumers, Professionals, and Businesses
Palm USA | Palm Pre 2 Phone | Features, Details

Verizon Logo "Coming Months"

The GSM version is available to everyone at this point. $449 +tax
The Euro site ships to a lot of areas from what i remember reading in precentral. Switzerland, Germany, France, England, etc.

As far as a lot of carriers are not carrying it, Palm/HP has other phones coming next year. I would assume they are waiting for those, not to see how well the Pre 2 does.

An article at webOS Roundup suggests that the Pre 2 will be the last Palm branded phone, and future webOS devices will be branded as HP.
