Default is pre what i need? leaving bb 8900

I need a phone for email and internet. The pre caught my eye because you can supposedly wifi a laptop from it? Is this true? Is it easy to connect?

I have the 8900 on tmo but have never been able to tether even with some long discussions with the blackberry support guys. Imo, the 8900 browser isnt good enough. I would like something quicker, and easier to view sites.

I dont care about gaming. Not sure what other info needs to be given to get some good feedback. Let me know!! Thanks in advance!

yeah, but it costs $40 more a month to turn it into a wifi hotspot. There's also a MyTether app that will allow you to do it for a one time fee of ~$15.

the free version of MyTether app can let you tether with a USB cable. The browser on the Pre is awesome, but apps load up time will probably be much longer than your BB.

1. Verizon is not presently charging for the mobile hotspot app

2. I have a Pre Plus and a Storm. There is a very slight load time difference for apps. You will notice it but isn't really anything to get upset over. The delay is less than 2 seconds.

Actually, as of last week it's FREE as long as you have a voice and data plan.. which you obviously have.

I wouldn't do it. You will be sorry if you switch to the Palm Pre Plus. I did that and it was a very bad experience. One week; five Palm Pres. Think about it.

But that was your experience. Others had the same with the Storm and mine was fine. My Pre thus far is blowing all three of my Berries out of the water. And far more steadily than the BB OS and without a single battery pull.

The Pre does 2 things really well. Media and browser. If that's your focus, go for it.

If email and chat are your priorities, i'd stick with BB. Pre does gaming in the sense of running high end games well, but lack of any navigation keys and the pre keyboard isn't very good for gaming control...

I feel the pre is going to be a collectible and be worth a lot down the road.
