| | Okay, is anyone seeing OS6 stuff and thinking "Hey, it's a poormans WebOS"?
Seriously, RIM has just totally and completely ripped off WebOS. Universal search is so so new and revolutionary? ORLY?
How the **** is OS6 so super special with it's a less pretty looking poor mans WebOS?

It's a little early to accuse RIM of plagiarism, but I too get annoyed at companies claiming revolutionary features that have already been used on other platforms.
I do hope for RIMs sake that they did not copy WebOS, as Palm needs to put a lot of work into their phones for them to compete.

Umm... all OS's are pretty much the same.... Its kind of hard to differentiate yourself when the goal is all the same. Display workable icons...
I played with a Samsung galaxy S Vibrant yesterday and guess what? It looked and felt almost EXACTLY like the iphone...

I would be offended if WebOS would be compared to any BlackBerry OS.
LAWL.
That's like comparing a SNES with a PS3.

It just makes me laugh because this is an OS refresh RIM should have done 2+ years ago. Now, they are adding things that other OS's are already changing and improving on, so in the end they will still have an OS that is out of date.
It's pathetic.

Yeah did you guys read the twitter that was sent out a few days ago by RIm? they are incorporating synergy into the OS as well, if you look at the slider it looks like a pre with BB designed graphics. what i dont understand about that slider is that it is touch and yet it will still have the four navigation buttons and a trackpad, seems like design over kill.

It's because they don't believe in their touchscreen.

The Storms OS should have been a custom OS for a touchscreen from the getgo.
Not a BB OS adapted to touch input...
The funny thing is that the Slider won't have surepress.
Surely, if they have so much faith in their touchscreen technology they would include it on any and all of their touchscreen devices.
Not just the storm.

I thought the announced 9800 was a knockoff of the Pre when I first saw it. First slider touchscreen phone? That's Palm Pre. That clamshell phone though, is unique. Don't think I've ever seen that design before.

I just think RIM needs to stop ripping off other companies and start being innovative again. They were once, but it's sad they took this long to start putting adequate RAM and a decent OS on their phones. That's what is frustrating. Out of the gate they are already out of date.
I like the looks of the slider...so much so I bought it months ago and it's a Pre lol. And the Pre is still more attractive. You wouldn't believe the people that I catch looking at the phone. If it's on the table I've actually caught co-workers stroking it heh.
I don't know about the clamshell...I'll have to see it. The Pearl Flip was FUG with a side of jesus what were they thinking, so we will have to see.

reeneebob - no offense, but you're totally coming off as someone who has a major gripe with bb now that you have moved on and ranting about it makes you feel better.
In the electronics industry its common practice to "rip off" (as you say) other companies. You complaining about it wont make it go away.
Different phones for different folks...

Are their a lot of people creating apps for the Palm platform? Everybody makes apps for bb apple and driod | The palm community is a small one but loyal to be honest i think there are more apps in the Palm Pre catalog then the BB one, and to top it off they are more elegant, also the home brew community is huge. It has been my experience that Pre apps actually work better too, i use on my BB Pandora, Weather Channel, Slacker, a twitter app and they look and work better on the Pre. Don't get me wrong the BB has some excellent apps as well but in those few that are cross platform they seem to run better on Pre.

But with HPs acquisition of Palm, and their interest in WebOS, I see a much brighter future ahead of them.
Besides, app wise-
RIM<Palm<Android<Apple
With Palms apps normally being on Par with the iPhone and Android devices, look wise.
