Default Mojo SDK Now Available!

The Official Palm Blog: Mojo SDK available to all

What? I guess this means that the SDK is no longer "being held hostage". Expect official announcements over the next couple months from your favorite developers about supporting the Pre hardware now that they know what they're working with (yes or no, at least now we'll know).

i think it's great the sdk has been released. will they be able to develop apps which can mitigate all of the pre's shortcomings? who knows... it's a large task for the sdk to minimize the atrocity of a keyboard, deplorable build quality, and lack of expandable memory that burdens the pre. that's a lot to ask of a developer.

The great thing about the SDK finally being released is that someone besides Apple can finally take advantage of a modern OS on a handheld device and leverage all of the power available in the hardware. After seeing the video on the front page of the 9550 "in action" I just shook my head. All the same lag and clunkiness is still there. Maybe if RIM had a decent OS and devkit (like Mojo), some industrious 3rd party developer could make a few apps to compensate for the problems RIM is obviously not prepared to address.
