TechCrunch is one of the biggest iFanboy sites. I would take everything they say with a pound of salt.

I dont think it has anything to do with being any kind of fanboy. The Pre sold well, better than expected, but its still no iphone or Storm sales, nor are stors selling out like the iphone is. Sure, its not expected obviously, but its simply reality. The Pre is desired, but not in huge mass numbers compared to all the hype it had.

I think theyre merely pointing out the difference between initial hype, and staying power. And so far it seems like once the initial hype died off sales have slowed down a lot compared to something like an iphone which is constantly desired and always flying off shelves.

It's unrealistic to think this phone would sell like BB or Apple. But 300k still isn't bad

Outside of this site and tech blogs average users were not concerned about the pre, I honestly don't think anyone thought the pre would sell a mil off the bat. Matter of fact there are users who have the Pre and they enjoy the phone and don't post on phone forums all day. And then there is the bb and apple fanboys who magnify every negative little thing about the Pre. Personally reading many of the threads here from my 8330 and ipod touch gets me kicks to make it thru the day.

it's not surprising the sales are dropping. they'll probably continue falling while returns/exchanges start piling up.

when i returned my pre the sprint sales person wasn't surprised at all, like she had done a few of them already. as more people get closer to their 30 day return window i can see the sprint store being packed with people returning their pre or exchanging them for another phone.

for all the flash, it's just not an ergonomically sound device and eventually you realize the limitations are something you just can't live with. that's why many people are returning them and getting the iphone or something like a tour or bold.

Considering the report isn't by them, your point is irrelevant. They just reposted what was in the report.

They quoted a report that a) uses a small sample and b) does not take into account authorized 3rd party sellers (Best Buy, Radioshack, Walmart). It's funny how neither BGR, Engadget nor Gizmodo posted the same report.

So what if they quoted it, the point still stands they didn't make the report, the Washington Post also quoted this same story, I guess that makes them Apple fanboys too.

lol i love fanboys, the article DOESNT EVEN MENTION THE IPHONE. Did you actually read the words? In fact it mentions ONLY Palm and RIM.

Just because someone doesnt like the Pre doesnt automatically make then an iphone fanboy

lets not forget that the BB Storm had HUNDREDS of people on the forum that were on their 2-5th Phone.. and i know for a fact Verizon counted every one that went OUT the door not the returns. Just like every other company. Verizon put out a multimillion dollar ad campaign for the Storm, and are now giving them away for free 2 for the price of one to be exact. RIM had a lot of money Palm didn't at the time.

Right now there aren't enough Pre's to go around, along with canada being launched soon, ever think they just didn't make enough? played it safe with what little money they had? they pulled telesales cuz they don't have enough to ship...

Lets not forget the Storm Launch day.. if you ordered after 1pm EST you got your phone 15 DAYS later! Remember that? only 400,000 units went out in first batch. the Pre is 30 days old with a budget of pennies to RIMS dollar.. So they are doing just fine..

The Pre is a great phone out of the box compared to when the Storm Launched. It's more solid out the box then the BB Storm was. This is a fact.. Ask any mod over in the Storm Forum. I currently have both phones one in each pocket. I find myself using the Pre more often..

if the pre had sold in the numbers the storm did i have no doubt there would be FAR more returns or exchanges. the build quality and hardware design of the pre is just that bad. i mean, you can't even type on the darn pre without early onset of arthritis.

why people keep trying to ignore the pre's problem by saying 'well this other phone also sucks' doesn't change the fact that the pre needs a second revision. the pre is like having a beautiful woman's spirit and personality trapped in medusa's body. it's really that sad.

i think there aren't enough pre's to go around because both palm and sprint are starting to realize the returns are going to skyrocket if they ever release this thing in mass numbers.

palm skimped out on the materials used to build the pre because they're broke. they spent a lot of money in r&d of the os and said we'll make it up on the materials side, which is exactly what it looks like they did.

i wouldn't be surprised if the supposed waiting list for a new pre is backed up because the waiting list for exchanges is even longer! the problem is that no matter how many exchanges a pre owner makes, the hardware issues won't be resolved long term without a major overhaul.

i expect the sales of the pre to continue dropping and then level off at a pretty low volume kind of like the g1 did.
