Default Lots on Pre, any Pixi owners?

So I was completely sold on the Bold 9650 after insane amounts of research and had previously been interested in Palm until it's future went up in the air.

However, I went into a Verizon store yesterday for the first time since I've been home from college to actually get a hands on with some of the phones (just worked with the Tour to get an idea of the 9650) and I can't tell you how much I LOVED the Pixi's keybaord. I knew the Pre was, overall, a better phone but the keyboard on the Pixi was so wonderful.

I was just wondering if there's any Pixi owners/ex-owners who could give me more details on the Pixi, especially, and not so much the Pre. I mean yes, a keyboard is wonderful but if that's all a phone's got it's hard to justify it. Any comments out there? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, espcially from previous or current BB owners.

The Palm Pixi Plus is one of the new smartphones from Palm with a candy bar form factor and a full QWERTY keyboard. I'm actuallt replying to this post on my Pixi right now. I decided to get it today and I love it. Granted I've only had it for a few hours so we'll have to see in the long run but it really is amazing for how small it is. The keyboard is wonderful and I found it easier to use than the Blackberry's but I don't have large hands either, granted I don't have SMALL hands.

so far I'd recommend it.

Think 'Palm Centro' but with WebOS and multi-touch like the Pre.

WebOS is very, how do I put this, Crisp and Clear. It's a breath of fresh air, its clean and easy to use. Browser is good, for mobile sites. Camera isn't the best but its okay for mobile photos. The slim factor is definitely a plus also.

Thumbs up Pixi

I've had mine a couple of weeks now. It's a cute phone. The UI is more visually appealing compared to my Storm 1. It's very slow, especially when opening programs. And there aren't a whole lot of apps that I would like to use. The best feature, and the reason I got it, is the Mifi. It allows you to create your own Wifi hotspot. I still use my Storm 1 for my messaging and other apps.

I've gotta say, I made a mistake. I hate to admit that people were right but they are. I really HATE to leave this device but there's too many problems. The webOS is a wonderful platform and it's so aesthetically pleasing. The keyboard is also wonderful and I still think I'm going to like it more than the Bold's keyboard but I have made the decision to get the Bold with Verizon.

My Pixi was constantly freezing or rebooting itself. This morning, the phone wouldn't turn on so I assumed that it was dead. When I went to charge it, it wouldn't take the charge. I had to pull the battery and then hook it up to the charger and when it finally booted up, it was almost fully charge in the first place, so obviously it wasn't dead this morning...just shut off and wouldn't turn back on.

I'm truly really sad to leave this device, I wanted it to work and that's why I tried to brush off the flaws but sometimes flaws are just too much to handle. I was hoping that in the future, HP would fix Palm's problem but now I'm hearing that they're going to let Palm smartphones die, which is also concerning. So I'm going to the Verizon store on June 10th when the device actually comes to stores.

Except that maybe he happened to get a faulty unit. I exchanged my Pearl 2 times and had a faulty Curve.

But oh yes - he learned the hard way.

Well I did too - I learned the hard way that BB is a sub par OS and that all the comments about it doing messaging better are bull because the Pre does it as well if not better, and yes it has push.

But yes, he learned the hard way.

OP - I'd exchange the unit. I wouldn't go back to the same device RIM has shoved onto the market for 3 years that only has a fresh coat of paint.

Never again, RIM.

I've seen plenty of reports of 6-7 faulty units to one person (one of them is on this board).

One of the major qualms with the Pre and Pixi has always been hardware reliability since the release.

I completely agree about the pixi's keyboard being wonderful. I have my pre+ and it isn't bad but the pixi's in my opinion feels better. I was gonna get the pixi but the pixi is much more slower than the pre+. I can care less about the size of the screen. My only concern was the speed of the phone and as it turns out pre+ is much superior. If the pixi had the same processor or speed as the pre+ i would of totally got it.

Battery life sucks I mean 6-8 hrs and it wants to shut down with only 10% battery left, it freezes up, randomly reboots, the screen is nice but small, no video recorder, the txt msgs r threaded like a chat which is nice, some times it won't register a gesture n guesses what u did.. So all n all it is well in need of a little more work and a better battery...

Try updating your device.

The Pre can record videos now, and can even edit them much like the iPhone.

The pre and pixi are great phones and after the the update. Even better. I had a pre plus but I'm so hooked to BB I went back. And to me downgraded. I went from a 9700 on att to a storm 2 on verizon then a palm pre plus, *storm 2 was defective* and back to BB 8530 now. My wife has the pixi and she loves it. She's a former blackberry user her self but is in love with the pixi. She won't go back to BB anymore.

Have you been in the Storm forum? There's lots of people with Tours as well on multiple unit returns.

Good lord.
