Default HP Touchpad release today

The HP Touchpad release today. So far seems pretty quiet on their forum. No new reviews at bestbuy yet. Stores seems to still have plenty. Thinking right now that the playbook even without the advertising at launch may have done alot better. Guess time will tell. Prefer my playbook so far.

I read it has only a usb port. So if its got no HDMI out, I am happy with the PB. But as far as 10inch tablets go, looks like a good choice. I'd pick it 100 times over ipad.

So...care to explain why, precisely? The reviews have tagged it as laggy, portly, and unable to be recommended. I'm interested in playing with one, but why on earth would you pick it 100 times over an iPad, based on what we currently know?

Wonder if it will be another whiff, like the Slate was. Hope they spent this time learning from their mistakes.

Palm Pre, Palm Pre2, HP TouchPad

That probably tells us how. My guess its a port over from their palm pre & palm pre2.

I'm not an expert on the thing and I wasn't quite serious. I'd not buy an ipad before buying an ipad. That is serious.

I'm just not a fan of Apple. Although I got an ipod for a gift and won a second ipod. I saw Apple for what it was and I see what it is. Cheap and overpriced products with short life spans so you can keep going back to apple to replace it. Plus proprietary accessories and hardware.

Cheap and overpriced?... uh?

Short lifespan??? They care for the devices and update the software constantly. Who does that? Even for years. The iPhone 1 was released 2007. It was up to date until 2010.

Even the ipad2 is running low specs compared to other tablets. The ipad1 released with 256mb ram? Wtf...? Is this acceptable? Ipad2 with 512mb ram? Give me a break. My netbook from 3 years ago surpasses the ipad2 in specs and my laptop from 8 years ago beats it too.

The lower the specs your device has, the faster its going to get outdated and just be a clunker. I think PB is gonna last way longer than an ipad of these 2 generations will.

HP still doesn't have HDMI, rear facing camera and only comes in 16 & 32GB models.

The problem with this explanation is it doesn't pan out in the real world; specs don't tell the whole story.

The iPad (and iPad2) is an example of just how smoothly a tablet can work if the software is well optimized.

The Touchpad, on the other hand, appears to be an example of what you get when the optimization is missing, despite the superior specs.

Many in the Mobile Tech community admire WebOS and consider it as an excellent OS. The PlayBook's BB QNX is seen as and is a WebOS rip off and many disrespect RIM for not designing a unique UI of their own...

You can get away with less ram if your OS doesn't have a lot of overhead. I agree 1G would be better but the device performs pretty good with the specs it has and also don't forget the it has a dual core GPU also
