| | HP touchpad
The release of the HP touchpad is around the corner, it will be interesting to see how fast apps come out for it. I was reading they will have all the major apps (kindle, citrix, remote desktop clients) at launch.
would be a good comparison to see see how fast apps come out for the touchpad as compared to the playbook.

You also have to remember that WebOS isn't new and has been out for 2 to 3 years. Just because it says HP on tje device and not Palm doesn't make it a new OS.

I think this could be the sleeper tablet of the year, based on what I have seen so far. Everybody is talking iOS vs. Android, and then RIM jumped in, but the Touchpad could steal the show while we're not looking.

The TouchPad is gonna rock. RIM better step it up and add the email and other much needed features ASAP or the TouchPad will destroy the PlayBook.
Don't get me wrong, I love my PlayBook but the TouchPad is a force to be reckoned with. And my apps are gonna be on it on launch day |

If the TouchPad is feature complete and as good as it seems and if the Pre3 is also, I think I may ditch RIM for the first time in seven years.
RIM's phone roadmap is pretty sad and Playbook remains unfinished.
It is too bad because I like the guts of the Playbook. I just wish that it was finished. If it was, I could probably put up with my Torch until a QNX phone came out, whenever that might be.

I can't wait. July 1st I will get my HP Touchpad and then soon after that the Pre3 shall be released on Verizon. I will be ditching my HTC Thunderbolt and setting my Playbook aside. RIM really better step it up or it will get left in the dust. Would be even better if I could get WebOS to run on my HP Touchsmart computer.

For me it's a tough choice. I love the PlayBook and I LOVE the BB 9930. The only problem is, RIM needs to RELEASE it so I can buy it.
I'll mosty likely have a TouchPad some time soon so if the Pre 3 comes out first it's going to be very tempting to get that as a phone because there are a lot of similarities between RIM's bridging and HP's pairing of a Pre 3 / Veer with the TouchPad.
Come on RIM, if you want to compete you're gonna have to RELEASE the devices.

IMO, the PB has superior functionality right now with HDMI options, presenter mode, flash, multitasking, BUT a tablet is only as good as it's apps. I would def not jump to a touchpad, but more interested in comparing the app selection at launch and soon after. It would put RIM to shame if touchpad had kindle, citrix, netlfix, other major apps at launch.

First i am not holding my breath. Seem to remember the hp slate that was suppose to come out about same time as ipad, then basicly got but on back burning. Second if you walk into a cell phone company do you usually see any hp phones? If that changes then maybe it will become more of a hit hard to say, second i still like the 7" size over 9.7"

If I've hung in there with RIM and the PB till July, why would I bail to a first ever tablet on a new tablet OS? Maybe to recapture those post-launch blues? I have been underwhelmed by Palm/WebOS and they haven't exactly been setting the world on fire.
I did see where Dell is toying with a 7 inch tablet with a thumb-type slider keyboard, which at least would be a back-to-the-future novelty. And I would also be interested in seeing a WindowsPhone Tablet as that OS may have some potential.

HP hasn't yet done much with WebOS but it is talking up a big game and seems to have lots of plans.
The HP slate was a Windows tablet. HP went back and forth on it.
HP's CEO said that HP learned something from RIM's Playbook launch: don't release a product until it is done. If TouchPad really is "done," feature complete and stable, it will do very well if HP devotes the resources to it.
