Default Anyone think OS 5 will be released much later now so that it can compete with WebOS?

I think RIM has some work to do with this new OS on the market. Although RIM is very business and security minded theyre going to have to think of something to compete imo.

What features would you like to see come with OS 5 that are already on WebOS?

I think 5.0 is gonna stay on track and be released 4th Q 2009. Hopefully us Stormie's will get a taste of it soon, as our Bold and 8900 brethren have already.

They need to figure out something, in just a year (after CES) they fell behind, they need to comeback with a masterpiece

I don't think OS 5.0 is really adding anything new. Palm overhauled their entire OS and made something really new and innovative. Changing around a few menus on a BB isn't going to do much.

I was hoping we'd get better integrated contact and calendars. The cool thing I read about the pre is that when you purchase movie tickets from fandango or similar sites, the movie shows up in your calendar. this along with smart contact integration of facebook, gmail, aim etc would be great!

RIM needs to revamp their OS. The look, design, the browser etc. The outdated graphic design is n't going to cut it anymore especially in a culture so focused on looks. If they want to appeal to the consumer they need to make it look nice, simplify it, and make it a smooth process. No more long complicated work arounds to get something simple done, like putting music on the phone, or having to do constant battery pulls. At the same time they need to maintain the overall BlackBerry foundation

I agree, but it from what a lot of people have been saying it doesn't look like we'll be getting this for a while

OS5 isn't competing with webOs....

Let's face it if you want the prettiest or most advanced OS I really don't know why you are on this board to begin with.

Yeah if you're looking for something like web OS. OS 5.0 is not going to be that.

So true.

My contract is up giving me the opportunity to go with any provider/phone I want.
My needs (business) is a no nonsense phone that doesn't lag. I need bullet proof emailing, message notification, call quality/reliability, and excellent phone construction. My new phone may not do everything but what it does do it does well. I would like but don't need is an OS with a pretty face that misses on key features.
That's why I'm buying a Tour when it comes out.

Some of these features have already been confirmed included, but I'd love to see in 5.0:

- Dramatically improved garbage collection
- "ReadyBoost" type technology
- Wireless share drive access
- Better browser
- Corporate email client that utlizes mandatory security labels
- The ability to record calls
- Faster power up
- Wireless ODBC client (to forms or speadsheet)

I don't need or want a new, pretty interface... the current one is simple and functional. I don't need or want fancy media stuff.
